Old Business
a. WeTHRIVE! process conclusion
The Change Tool Analysis, recently completed by this commission, David Nichols, and Michele
Gottschlich, was tabulated to create a WeThrive! Community Action Plan Strategy. The strategy recommends
we continue focusing on promoting our activities for physical activities (Bike & Pedestrian
Master Plan, fitness programs, etc.) and add on an environment nutrition plan and chronic disease
prevention plan.
An environment nutrition plan might include more healthier choices in the vending machine, and at
the concession stand, which cost lower than non-healthy choices. Promote the fitness center, fitness
classes and activities, to prevent chronic disease.
Consider adding the national “smoking cessation” hotline information to our website.
Mary Ellen also suggested reaching out to those residents who do not use the amenities here at the
Recreation Center.
b. Lifestyle Essentials’ Monthly report as noted in the packet
c. Evendale Bike & Pedestrian Master Plan update
A resolution adopting the Bike & Pedestrian Master Plan was unanimously approved by village council
at their July meeting. This allows us to seek local, state, or federal grants.

Director’s Report
Later this year, a Request For Proposal(s) (RFP) for the operation of the fitness center and the swimming
pool will be advertised.
The budget sub-committee will meet on August 11th at 7:45am. David will email the preliminary budget
to those attending. In addition, David will also email council’s guidelines for setting fees.
Our Evendale Eagles swim team won the 2014 (large team division) NSSL league championship.
The Fun in the Sun summer camp ends today.
The organization, Midwest Fitness, is talking to the village tax administrator. Until this is resolved, we are
not entertaining their request to bring children to our pool. The department’s tennis pro, Tony Teufel,
stopped by their location to talk about tennis, but the campers were not interested in tennis. Discussions
by some commissioners, with neighbors, returned many concerns about setting this precedent, and the
children would be in our pool without a parent or guardian present.

Phi Lambda Pi Report
Things are a little slow right now because of everyone being busy.
July 4th financials are still being tabulated. Report soon.
Last night the group went to the Root Beer Stand in Sharonville.
Twelve Phi members and four chaperones leave Saturday, July 26th for the annual summer trip. This year
the group is going to Santa Rosa, Florida.

Open Discussion
Some programming attendance numbers seem to be low (i.e. sports teams, summer camp, swim team) .
These may follow the 2010 census results which showed a dip in the community age demographics.
David believes July 4th events went very well (albeit strange, as he did not need to look at weather radar
once as is tradition with July 4th weather). The DJ, and the location of the music, added a new flair to
event.
Saffire Express is the music event at the Founder’s Pavilion this weekend. They were rained out on July
4th last year; so David asked Linda Manzo to place them on our concert schedule this year.
Compliments to the Fun in the Sun leadership. This year’s F.I.T.S. program is the best out of the last two
or three years. Some kids would rather be in camp than go home with their parents or grandparents.

Motion to adjourn made at 8:21am by Mary Teufel; seconded by John Doviak. Motion approved.
